I'm Peter Hannah, and I'm known to many therapists as "Your Google Guy". I'm a psychotherapist in my seventh year of private practice in Seattle, who brings over a decade of high-tech experience alongside first-hand therapy marketing experience to help colleagues get clients.

I learned how to use the web to find clients (or more accurately help them find me) after a year of struggle when I first opened my office. I found out that just because I was there, people did not come - because they did not know about me. Dropping more into debt each month, I used all my skills and imagination, and turned to something I did know - the web.

I found a great domain name and created a website - ChangingForGood.com - that evolved to include multimedia content about who I am and what I do. But just like opening my office, I found a website is great, but just having one doesn't mean people will come. What was I to do?

After Craigslist, print ads, mailings, classes, email newsletters, fliers, posters, and other means didn't bring me a lot of clients, I found Google Adwords. It helped build a thriving practice that is now balanced with this work as Your Google Guy. In the last two years I've folded in a great deal of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to also draw clients to me site.

In 2006, I launched YourGoogleGuy.com, and have helped over 200 therapists, counselors, and psychologists build their own practices through web marketing.

In addition to my experience as a therapist, I spent 15 years in high-tech, in all sorts of jobs, for employers as big as IBM, and as small as a dot-com startup. I have a Masters degree in Telecommunications, and began building websites in 1996. I was in charge of all aspects of the Intranet and Internet websites (visual design, content & technical) for a Fortune 500 Company from 1996-1999. I've always seen websites as a communication and information tool - and thus am focused on the use of technology, rather than what's cool and complicated.

I've been featured in Psychotherapy Finances magazine on both Google Adwords for therapists, and web video for therapists, and was proud to be a featured speaker at the 2009 Therapist Leadership Conference.
