Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the art and science of influencing Google (and Yahoo, and Bing) to think your site is the most relevant one to show for particular keyword searches.
SEO is built on constant experimentation and attention, as Google does not publish the algorithms it uses to determine relevance - and by the way they constantly change those algorithms. And Google not only rewards certain things, it also punishes people who try to jury-rig the system.
Since SEO requires a constant eye on the changes that take place on Google - as of January 2012, I'm joined by another "Google Guy" - Michael Borgelt (that smiling young man on the right).
